FEEDING PROGRAM TO MALNOURISH CHILDREN, TREE PLANTING AND VEGETABLE GARDENING AT THE NAGGASICAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WAS LAUNCHED

      The Feeding Program to malnourish children from kinder to Grade1 at Naggasican Elementary School was launched last July 2, 2012 at 8:00 am at the NES amphitheatre.  Tree planting and vegetable gardening were also simultaneously launched.

During the program, Mr. Carlos Bergonia, the NES School Nutrition Coordinator, presented to the children, parents, barangay council and NES faculty and staff the goals and objectives of the feeding program, who will be benefitted and what will be the mechanics.  Barangay Chairman Jose F. Marquez also gave a brief message.  Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap gave the inspirational message.


Mr. Carlos Bergonia, the NES School Nutrition Coordinator, explained the partnership of the Naggasican Elementary School with Cornerstone Church Naggasican in the feeding program of 60 malnourished children of the school. He also explained the mechanics of the new feeding program using Manna packs from ACTION   PHILIPPINES as food of the malnourish children.                     




Brgy. Chairman Jose Marquez thanked Rev. Danny and Cornerstone Church Naggasican for helping the school and barangay in its program of making Naggasican a zero malnourish barangay






Mam Maryjane Floresca thanked Brgy. Chairman Jose Marquez for his unfailing support to NES programs and projects and to Rev. Danny Mangadap of CCN for the feeding program that has been implemented at NES for how many years and still continuing




After the program, a tree planting within the school premises was conducted with the first tree being planted by Barangay Chairman Jose F. Marquez, Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap, CCN Head Pastor, and Mrs. Maryjane Floresca, the NES Principal.  The second tree was planted by Mrs. Jane Mangadap, the CCN Over-all Program Coordinator, Mr. Carlos Bergonia, the NES School Nutrition Coordinator and Ms. Alva Daloran, East District Nurse of the Department of Education (DEPed).  The third tree was planted by Ms. Grace Viray, CCN Barangay and School Coordinator, Officers of the Parents Association and some members of the Barangay Council.













After the tree planting, volunteers from Cornerstone Church Naggaiscan fed with manna turned to congee 150 children, 60 severely wasted or malnourish and 90 below normal weight as part of the launching. 





After the program, a fellowship of all guests, visitors and NES Faculty and Staff was held at the Office of the NES Principal.  The program ended at 11:00 am.







In the afternoon, a deworming of 60 malnourished children was conducted by the East District Nurse of the DEPed, Ms. Alva Dalloran.  The regular 3x a week feeding will start on July 9, 2012.

MEETING OF FEEDING PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Date: June 22, 2012
Time: 8:00 am
Venue: Barangay Health Center, Naggasican, Santiago City


The first meeting of the Feeding Program Coordinators was held at the Barangay Health Center of Naggasican, Naggasican, Santiago City last June 22, 2012.  The meeting was attended by the following:

1.         Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap – Head Pastor of Cornerstone Church Naggasican
2.         Sis. Jane Mangadap – Over-all Program Coordinator of Cornerstone Church Naggasican
3.         Mrs. Monaliza Orpilla – Barangay Midwife and Santiago City Health Office Feeding Program Coordinator
4.         Mr. Carlos Bergonia – School Nutrition Coordinator of Naggasican Elementary School
5.         Kag. Danny Ternura – Barangay Health Coordinator
6.         Sis. Grace Viray – Cornerstone Church Naggasican Feeding Program Barangay and School Coordinator
7.         Sis. Rose Linglingon – Cornerstone Church Naggasican Feeding Program Teacher Coordinator

The meeting started at exactly 8am with the presence of the above listed feeding program coordinators from the Cornerstone Church Naggasican, Naggasican Barangay Council and Naggasican Elementary School.


Rev. Danny Mangadap presided the meeting of the feeding coordinators.

Sis. Jane Mangadap, CCN Over-all Program Coordinator, introduced the Manna Pack from Action Philippines and explained the mechanics and revised (new) feeding program of CCN

Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap presided the meeting and introduced to the body the Manna Packs from the Action Philippines to be used for the feeding program in the barangay level and Naggasican Elementary School. Both the barangay and school coordinators were so glad and grateful of this blessing from the Lord.  It was so timely because we shall be celebrating the Nutrition month this July.

Both the barangay and school coordinators already have the list of 60 malnourished and severely wasted children which were submitted to Sis. Jane Mangadap, the Over-all Program Coordinator of Cornerstone Church Naggasican. It was agreed upon that the CCN will be providing the manna packs from the Action Philippines while the ingredients will be provided by the barangay council and parents of the beneficiaries for the barangay level feeding and school, teachers and parents association for the school (NES) level feeding.  It was also agreed to have a three (3) times a week feeding, MWF in the school and TThS in the barangay.  CCN will be providing the volunteer cooks for the school while the barangay will be tapping mothers of the malnourish children to cook. Feeding of the NES pupils will be held at the Amphitheatre of Naggasican Elementary School while malnourish children in the barangay level will be held at the Barangay Health Center and at the CCN.  The launching of the feeding program at the Naggasican Elementary School was scheduled on July 2, 2012 while the launching for the barangay will still be discussed.
