FEEDING PROGRAM TO MALNOURISH CHILDREN, TREE PLANTING AND VEGETABLE
GARDENING AT THE NAGGASICAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WAS LAUNCHED

The Feeding Program to
malnourish children from kinder to Grade1 at Naggasican Elementary School was launched last July 2, 2012 at 8:00 am at the NES amphitheatre. Tree planting and vegetable gardening were
also simultaneously launched.

During the program, Mr. Carlos Bergonia,
the NES School Nutrition Coordinator, presented to the children, parents,
barangay council and NES faculty and staff the goals and objectives of the
feeding program, who will be benefitted and what will be the mechanics. Barangay Chairman Jose F. Marquez also gave a
brief message. Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap
gave the inspirational message.
Brgy. Chairman Jose Marquez thanked Rev. Danny and Cornerstone Church Naggasican for helping the school and barangay in its program of making Naggasican a zero malnourish barangay
After the program, a tree planting
within the school premises was conducted with the first tree being planted by
Barangay Chairman Jose F. Marquez, Rev. Danilo A. Mangadap, CCN Head Pastor,
and Mrs. Maryjane Floresca, the NES Principal.
The second tree was planted by Mrs. Jane Mangadap, the CCN Over-all
Program Coordinator, Mr. Carlos Bergonia, the NES School Nutrition Coordinator
and Ms. Alva Daloran, East District Nurse of the Department of Education
(DEPed). The third tree was planted by
Ms. Grace Viray, CCN Barangay and School Coordinator, Officers of the Parents
Association and some members of the Barangay Council.
After the tree planting, volunteers from Cornerstone Church Naggaiscan fed with manna turned to congee 150 children, 60 severely wasted or malnourish and 90 below normal weight as part of the launching.
After the program, a fellowship of
all guests, visitors and NES Faculty and Staff was held at the Office of the
NES Principal. The program ended at
11:00 am.
In the afternoon, a deworming of 60
malnourished children was conducted by the East District Nurse of the DEPed,
Ms. Alva Dalloran. The regular 3x a week
feeding will start on July 9, 2012.
